The DESMOND National Programme and Research team were extremely well represented at this years Diabetes UK Annual Professional Conference (APC). No less that 8 posters were presented on work carried out over the last 12 months and the DESMOND stand was a resounding success.
Below are the 8 posters that were presented at this years Diabetes UK APC, not only is this representative of the hard work that is going on here at the DESMOND National Office but also across the UK and Ireland.
Dr Westgate from NHS Cumbria presented on the early implementation of the DESMOND Walking Away from Diabetes prevention module which was shown to be both feasible and highly acceptable within primary care within Cumbria. A team of Educator from Mizen Primary Care Team, Cork - HSE West, Ireland also presented on this new initiative with results showing that it was welcomed by both the clients and clinicians alike.
Ciara Heverin, Diabetes Dietitian from Community Nutrition & Dietetics, Galway presented on patient experience of the DESMOND Newly Diagnosed module and concluded that it a positive experience for attendees, and that attendees are keenly awaiting the development of our DESMOND Going Forward with Diabetes module which is our ongoing module for those that have attended the initial 6 hour education course.
Our next step is to work with these teams to move these posters into publications. Why not start to think about submitting your own abstract for the Diabetes UK APC 2012 or other professional conferences, we are more than happy to help you make this a reality.
