Whats Happening in Research

The research team is very active. TheDESMOND Monitoring Study, funded by Diabetes UK, has stopped recruiting participants and is now in the follow-up stage. The Lay Educator Study, another study funded by Diabetes UK, is currently at the referral stage. DESMOND is involved in a number of studies funded by the National Institute for Health Research CLAHRC* for Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland.

A Randomised Controlled Study for the Prevention of Diabetes using an Educational Intervention and Continuous Support Programme in those with Pre-Diabetes in a Multi Ethnic Population. Let's Prevent is funded by aNational Institute for Health Research (NIHR).Programme Grant and is the first randomised controlled study looking at whether an educational lifestyle programme (of diet and exercise) can prevent those with a condition called pre-diabetes going on to develop diabetes.
