COVID-19 is becoming a real issue for the NHS and also for our DESMOND community. With the daily changing picture, we are relying on the bulletins and updates from the Department of  Health dedicated coronavirus page https://www.england.nhs.uk/coronavirus/ This will provide advice on symptoms and how and when to isolate, and when to call NHS111.

Additional information for patients with diabetes can be found here https://www.diabetes.org.uk/about_us/news/coronavirus or here https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

For some people with diabetes, they may not wish to attend group education sessions and this is where MyDESMOND (our online platform) can come to the fore. If you are an organisation currently offering groups you can begin offering MyDESMOND as an alternative to your patients so they are still provided the opportunity of accessing structured education but through a digital means. MyDESMOND (www.mydesmond.com) was developed taking the learning from the DESMOND group sessions, and mapping the behaviours, so they were evident in this online version, making it a great solution in today’s health climate. If you would like more information about how to offer MyDESMOND to people with Type 2 diabetes please email alison.northern@uhl-tr.nhs.uk

We will continue to monitor the situation closely so please visit this page frequently for updates.
