DESMOND Walking Away from Diabetes module available

The ‘Walk Away from Diabetes’ programme is a one morning course (1000-1300) which is held around the West Cork area for those at risk of diabetes. It explores why you are at risk of diabetes , what you can do to reduce your risk and have any questions you may have about your risk answered. The diabetes prevention clinic runs three days a week in various venues around West Cork (either in the GPs surgery or local HSE health centre). This is a clinic which provides one to one support for lifestyle change, if you have had an abnormal oral glucose tolerance test. You will see the nurse on a regular basis to address making small changes in your lifestyle which will postively enhance your health especially your risk of diabetes. The GP would normally refer you to this clinic but if you have had an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test and know your results you can call the clinic and discuss your results if you wish.
