We have been delivering DESMOND since its birth in 2004 and now our weekly sessions are well supported and subscribed. Every week we look forward to the group as each day is always unique and it’s wonderful meeting and listening to peoples’ experiences both positive and negative. The day is informal, including humour as well as the serious business.

All attendees are welcome to bring a relative or friend with them if they wish. It can be quite unnerving having to go to a full day of information and many people wonder what we will be talking about for six hours. However by the end of the day it all becomes clear. We have three regular Educators running the days and sometime have up to two allied health care professionals sitting in on DESMOND, using it as an education tool. We want them to see the messages DESMOND provides and it helps practice and community staff understand what information their patients are receiving.
