Overview
DESMOND is offered to empower patients to become more informed about their condition and as a resource to assist management of the changes which diabetes will bring to their lives. It is also offered as an opportunity for people with newly diagnosed diabetes to meet and share experiences.

Our courses are run across a variety of local venues and are delivered by three DESMOND trainerd educators. GP practices refer directly to designated DESMOND administrator and a course date is usually offered within ten weeks of diagnosis. The programme is evaluated via the designated DESMOND criteria plus our own evaluation to allow the DESMOND experience to be audited.

We are, at present, running courses in Worthing (Diabetes Centre, Worthing Hospital); Angmering Medical Centre (bi-monthly) and Orchard Surgery, Lancing Health Centre (bi-monthly – the opposite months to Angmering). We are also hoping to run regualr courses in Steyning but these will be approximately one every three months.
